Section 74.5

The list below is a starting point per industry, not a survey.

74.5.1 Industry-specific reads

Note: Vertical AI standards are starting to matter

The NIST AI Risk Management Framework 1.0 and sector-specific customizations (FDA AI/ML guidance for medical, SR 11-7 for financial models, NIST 800-218 for software supply chain) are increasingly cited in 2025-26 procurement processes. The framework you pick (or your vendor picks) affects which platforms are deployable; flag this when evaluating vendors.

The 2026 per-vertical practitioner-reading and community map, plus the cross-vertical standards that increasingly determine what procurement teams will approve.
Figure 74.5.1: The 2026 per-vertical practitioner-reading and community map, plus the cross-vertical standards that increasingly determine what procurement teams will approve. Each vertical has its own combination of trade press (NEJM AI for medical, Law360 + Artificial Lawyer for legal, eFinancialCareers for finance, EdSurge for education, Krebs and Dark Reading for cyber) and its own dominant practitioner community (HLTH, Pavilion, RSAC). Cross-vertical, the standards that are showing up in 2025-2026 RFPs are NIST AI RMF 1.0 + the Generative AI Profile (AI 600-1), FDA AI/ML guidance for medical, SR 11-7 for financial models, NIST 800-218 for software supply chain, ISO/IEC 42001 as the AI management-system layer, and the EU AI Act for any EU-market exposure. The framework choice determines vendor approval.
