FrontierFrontier, Frontier-Watching AI Agent

Part Overview

Part XV surveys the frontier of AI research and development across five chapters. The arc opens with frontier architectures and scaling (emergent abilities, alternative architectures, beyond-text sequence models), continues into frontier theory and cognition (reasoning, memory, mechanistic interpretability, the nature of agency), then moves into frontier systems and hardware (non-NVIDIA silicon, decentralized training, edge LLMs, training-inference co-design), AGI trajectories and open questions (frontier benchmarks, timelines, alignment at frontier scale, economic implications), and closes with a Tools of the Trade chapter on the frontier-research stack.

Chapters: 5 (Chapters 61 through 65). A forward-looking conclusion that frames the open questions shaping the next decade of AI development.

Big Picture

The field of large language models evolves faster than any textbook can fully capture. Part XV looks ahead at emerging architectures, theory, hardware, AGI trajectories, and the broader societal implications of AI. This part helps you develop the forward-looking perspective needed to stay current as the technology continues to advance.

What's Next?

This part begins with Chapter 75: Frontier Architectures & Scaling. Each chapter builds on the previous one, so we recommend reading Part XV in order.
